Newfoundland Exploration:
Wilding Gold project has seen multiple exploration programs on the property this year, including multiple drill programs, surface sampling and target expansion:
- Drilling is currently underway at Wilding, with 3,000m of drilling completed in 15 drill holes, which is half of the planned program:
- Preliminary analysis indicates that the first holes drilled into the Valentine Lake Shear Zone successfully intersected the Valentine Lake intrusion, mafic dikes and quartz veins, the same deposit setting at the neighboring Valentine Lake Gold project (Marathon Gold). This was setting was previously thought to not exist in the northern part of the project where the VLSZ runs for 8km, northeast, through the project
- First past exploration results for the never explored western portion of Wilding found gold-in-soil along the VLSZ indicating the Marathon like analog could hold across the property and continued strong gold-in-soil response in the volcanics, which host the Red Ochre Zone, which currently spans over 1 km of gold-in-drilling on the eastern part of the project.
- Assay turn around times have slowed to a crawl on the Island with all the exploration activity stacking the local lab
Property Acquisitions:
Canterra has been hard at work actively increasing the size of the land package in Newfoundland:
- On October 4th, 2021 the Company announced that it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with NorZinc Ltd. to acquire the mineral rights to four projects in central Newfoundland, three of which contain 43-101 mineral resource estimates totaling 215koz gold, 12Moz silver and 700Mlbs zinc.
- On July 14th, 2021 the Company announced that it had added 28km2 to the Newfoundland land package by staking the Carter lake property, which is highly prospective ground that is underlain by the same geological units that are known to host gold mineralization at Wildind and the Valentine Lake Gold Deposit.
- On April 19th, 2021 the Company announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the East Alder Gold Project from Sokoman Minerals Corp. This property is located immediately to the northeast of the Wilding Gold Project, covers an additional 7.5km2 of the Valentine Lake Shear Zone that hosts gold mineralization at both Wilding and Marathon Gold’s Valentine Lake project, and the property is drill ready.
Corporate Announcements:
Canterra has been strengthened both financially and technically with the following announcements:
- On June 8th, 2021 Canterra announced a strategic investment by Eric Sprott as part of a $2.7 million non-brokered private placement, giving Canterra a strong financial position to advance exploration projects in Newfoundland
- At the end of August, Canterra welcomed Dr. Luke Longridge to the team as the VP of Exploration. Dr. Longridge brings a wealth of experience with more than 15 years of mineral exploration experience, with a focus on Canada and Africa. During his career, Dr. Longridge has managed exploration activities on a variety of deposit types and geologic terranes, developing a strong technical understanding of orogenic, epithermal and intrusion related gold systems.
Canterra is still going strong into the end of the year and is focused on expanding known zones and making new discoveries in Newfoundland.
